The Archives Intern will assist with the processing and digitization of materials in our collection, including photographs, illustrations, born digital, periodicals, ephemera, maps, blueprints, film and cassette tapes, etc. The archives intern will also assist in processing new acquisitions and donations, including arrangement, description, and housing of collection at MPLP standards. The intern will also assist the Collections Committee in evaluating materials for deaccession, and help locate organizations as possible donation sources.All materials will be catalogued in our collections management software, PastPerfect Museum Software, which will then be uploaded to our online database. Experience with scanning at archival standards preferable, but will train the right person.

The Historical Research Intern will assist with taking, researching, resolving, and responding to requests placed by patrons (including the general public and researchers/scholars). The intern will also undertake an independent research project of their choosing relating to the history of Napa County or its residents. The intern will choose between one of two projects: 1) a research paper of 2,500-5,000 words that will be used by NCHS for publishing purposes, such as in the local newspaper, on our website, or in one of our scholarly publications, with full credit to the intern; 2) producing 10-15 web-friendly pieces of historical interest pertaining to Napa County, including timelines, blog posts, etc.
