Nancy McEnery is a Librarian at Napa Valley College and holds a MLIS from San Jose State University, a teaching credential in history from Dominican University and an M.S. in counseling from Cal State Hayward. She has written a book on the history of the Napa River, published by Arcadia in July 2012.

Felicia Shinnamon

Felicia Shinnamon

Felicia Shinnamon was born and raised in Chico, California. She attended University of California at Davis earning both a B.A. and M.A. and the California Institute of Integral Studies earning a Ph.D., all in Cultural Anthropology. She taught Anthropology and Geography at Napa Valley College for thirty-three years as well as brief assignments at Santa Rosa Junior College and Chapman University. Felicia has lived in Napa for 39 years where she and her husband, Chuck, raised two children. She has been active in the community serving as a Trustee on the Boards of Community Resources for Children, Girl Scouts of Napa-Solano, and Napa Valley Museum. Felicia is an avid traveler, hiker, kayaker, gardener, cook, and art and music enthusiast.

Scott Sedgley

Raised in Napa, Scott graduated from Napa High School in 1970. He completed a four year apprenticeship in carpentry, spending 13 years working as a union carpenter. His next opportunity was working for the Napa Fire Department. Starting as a Reserve Firefighter, Scott worked 32 years with the department, retiring as a Truck Captain in 2011.

Scott’s community involvement includes 25 years as a docent at Bale Grist Mill State Historical Site, four years on Napa’s Parks and Recreation Advisory Commission and serving nine years as a board member with the Napa Valley Unified School District. He currently serves on the boards of the Napa County Historical Society and the Foundation for Napa Recreation. Scott is a member of the Native Sons of the Golden West, Napa Elks Lodge, Land Trust of Napa County and the Sierra Club. Even after retirement, Scott continues to serve his city as an elected member of Napa’s City Council. Scott has been married 38 years to Napa native Linda Riddle.

Robin Boardman Hart

Robin is a native Californian who grew up in Fairfield and moved to Napa in 1960. She has three children, ten grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Her family is the most important part of her life. She retired from Bank of America after 39 years and has worked very part-time at Rabobank (formerly Napa Community Bank) since 2002. She has been a very active member of NCHS since 1981, and on the board all but 4 years since 1983, serving as President twice for a total of about 15 years. She is currently Treasurer and serves on several committees. Robin is currently a volunteer at Lucky Penny, and has volunteered at Lincoln Theater, Napa Valley Opera House, and Festival del Sole. Other interests include traveling, reading mysteries, live theater and way too much TV. She considers herself a foodie-in-training.

Sharon Lampton

After a career as an international management consultant based in San Francisco, Sharon Lampton retired to the Napa Valley in 1999. Interested in expanding her interests outside of business and her knowledge of the community in which she lived, Sharon quickly became involved with the Napa County Historical Society, Master Gardeners of Napa County, and the Napa Valley Quilters Guild, assuming various leadership positions in these organizations. She was also an active volunteer at The Napa Valley Museum, Copia, The Napa Valley Opera House and Lincoln Theatre.

Betty Bortz

Betty Bortz was born and raised in Maryland. After graduating with a B.A. in English from Ursinus College, Pennsylvania, Betty came to Napa to teach at Silverado Middle School. After five years of teaching, including one year in Bitburg, Germany with Department of Defense schools, Betty earned an MLS degree from the University of Oregon. She was a high school librarian for ten years followed by brief assignments at Santa Rosa Junior College and Napa Valley College. Betty retired after nineteen years as a reference/public service librarian at Diablo Valley College and soon volunteered as a researcher at the Napa County Historical Society. She also volunteers at the Napa Valley Museum, has served on the Napa County Grand Jury and started an after-school sewing class at Silverado Middle School.

Molly Britton

Born in New York but raised in the Napa Valley, Molly Knoll Britton was a wine industry professional for 17 years before becoming a full-time mother to her 5 and 7 year old daughters. Her talents are many including extensive hospitality and public relations skills. Her interests include cooking, swimming, hiking and local history.

Ed Cull

Board Member

Ed has worked in the construction industry since 1971, built multiple subdivisions, and remodeled several older homes and buildings in Napa and Marin Counties. He has learned a lot about the structure of old buildings over the course of his career. As a lifetime Napa resident, preserving and restoring the heritage of Napa is extremely important to him.

John Holt

John Holt

A native of Arkansas, John Holt embarked on a long detour to California as an Annapolis-trained officer with the US Navy in a 25-year career that included Submarine Service, post-graduate education, NATO and naval engineering research. A tour that encompassed duty on both our country’s coasts, the Far East and Europe and ranged from San Diego and Washington, D. C. to London and Ankara, Turkey. Returning to California in the mid-80s for a second career involving fiber optic communications, he helped bring Pacific Bell and AT&T into the digital age. Fully retiring to Southern California in the ‘90s, he pursued his long-time interest in both Naval and local history, while advocating the importance of reading with and for children. Returning to the North Bay Area (Yountville) 10 years ago, he continues to volunteer with numerous libraries, museums and schools.

Keeta Lewis

Born in San Francisco, California, Keeta DeStefano Lewis obtained her MSN and PhD in nursing at USF and UCSF. She circumvented the United States with her husband (a pilot) and their children living in both Germany and Japan for many years before spending years supporting women and special needs children in their homes and schools. She has had several appointments at the national, state, and local levels and written many articles and one particular appealing book entitled “Manual of School Health.” She failed retirement when taking on the position of President for the American Association of University Women (Napa Branch). Now she is pursuing a childhood love of both health and local history. Her favorite role is still grandmother.

Conor Massey

While attending Hastings, Conor served as an editor of the West-Northwest Journal of Environmental Law and Policy, and as a legal intern with the Department of Justice, Environmental and Natural Resources Division, in Washington, D.C.

Lindsey Pogue

Lindsey Pogue

Lindsey was born and raised in Napa and received her master’s degree in History and Culture. When she learned about NCHS she immediately jumped at the chance to volunteer. After a couple years of interning she was asked to be on the Board of Directors. Lindsey works part time in Fund Development for On The Move, a local non-profit organization, and also writes with the rest of her time. When she’s not working on her next book or brainstorming, she’s travelling, camping or spending time with friends and loved ones.

Don Winter

Don Winter

Don Winter has served as a nationally recognized Hotel & Restaurant Consultant for the past 40 years, primarily specializing in Dispute Resolution. His first economic research assignment in Napa County Lodging began in 1973 and he continues to assist local hotels and restaurants to this day. A graduate of Cornell University, Don has served as President and/or Board Member of numerous charitable and professional organizations throughout the Bay Area. His dark side is sated through his secondary career as a professional humorist and M.C. for events throughout the United Sates.

He and his wife Katherine moved to Napa full-time in 2000 and are enthusiastic world travelers. They are members of the Native Plant Society and Land Trust of Napa County and spend many weekends hiking the unlimited back trails of this wondrous and blessed County.
