LEGACY Hand-Tinted Tidings of YesterYear

When: April – July

Where: Goodman Library, 1219 First Street

Artist Carolynne Gamble selected old photos from the Society’s archives, enlarged and printed them on fabric. Then she painted the photos in the old hand-tinted style. The process transported her back to her family, her history, and her legacy. She brings history to life with an artist’s eye.

May Downtown Napa History Tour

Our May History Tour will take you on a stroll down memory lane past Napa’s remarkable Victorians and their gardens.

Date: Tuesday, May 21, 2019
Time: 10:00am – 11:30am
Where: Meet at the Goodman Library, 9:45am, 1219 First St.
Cost: SOLD OUT

Within easy walking and viewing distance of the Napa River, this area was home to Napa’s first “rich and famous” residents. Most of the buildings were constructed in the last quarter of the 19th century, roughly between 1872 and 1910. Some of the riverboat captains selected this area for their ease of access to the bustling embarcadero. As many as sixty ships per day plied these waters in its heyday. Steamboats, many of them paddle-boats, ferried passengers to and from the San Francisco Bay.
