Congressman Mike Thompson is sponsoring Napa’s participation in the Library of Congress Veterans History Project, which is celebrating its 10th anniversary this year. The project is part of a national, ongoing effort to collect, preserve, and make accessible the personal accounts of American war veterans so that future generations may hear directly from them and better understand the realities of war. The Veterans History project covers all American wars since World War I, and includes all participants of those wars: men and women, civilian and military. The project documents the contributions of civilian volunteer, support staff, and war industry workers, as well as the experiences of military personnel from all ranks and branches of service.
We know that future generations have much to learn from these accounts, and it is important to collect and preserve this significant part of our nation’s history before it is too late. If you have a wartime experience to share, we’d like to hear about it.
Veterans who wish to tell their story and students who want to conduct an interview should call Congressman Thompson’s Napa district office at 707.226.9898
